For those searchers who developed an industry focused search - How did you approach your industry analysis for acquisition, starting from a blank slate? If you started completely open to what industry you were going to focus on, how did you narrow it down and get to a point where you wanted to focus on one specific industry? Did you end up focusing on one industry, or did you keep your search open to other possibilities. Thank you for your thoughts!

One technique is using IBISWorld's "Industry Wizard" tool to create your parameters and then it provides industries that fit. This could provide a good start. A drawback is that each "industry" is arguably too broad to definitively impact the companies a self-funded searcher may acquire.
