What's been your experience with starting, buying or selling a service business? I've been exposed to residential cleaning and commercial janitorial business - I've gotten in touch with some people who started a completely remote business by hiring subcontractors to avoid having to hire employees to service a limited area. One specific person I've talked to also mentioned it's easier to start a company by hiring subcontractors to limit expenses and avoiding liabilities. Targeting consumers through Google Ads, hiring subcontractors through IndeedJobs, etc. It was also emphasized that the business is not ideal to start and flip but more for cash flow only. After building the business for ~3 years, that individual is netting ~$250k. My question: What's been your experience being in the service business (marketing, quality control, margins, time, growth potential, etc.) and what are your thoughts of growing the business without having to commit to being in a specific location?
Thank you!
