Hi searchers,

What is your experience working with buy side advisors to help you find proprietary (off market) deals? How did you structure it? Is it worth it? it's been said that working with motivated sellers (those who already engaged a broker) is the best for multiple reasons.

Thoughts? Advice? Personal experiences?

Hi ^redacted‌ Every searcher, every broker, every advisor is unique. We have a saying in my former line of work...only 1/20 of the attorneys from a top 20 law firm is worthy. And there are 100 law firms in the top 20...LMAO. Insert i-banker / accountant / management consultant for attorney. And I am sure that several times people put me in the 19 not the 1 category) If you would like to chat, I would be more than happy to compare notes and structure advisory services that make sense. At worst, you will see where one person draws the line in the sand. redacted

Hired Genz (https://www.genzassociates.com/) to source add-ons. Monthly retainer + fee on any closed deals. They are savvy + it saved me time at top-of-funnel so I only engage on "real" opportunities. Should end up closing a deal or two through this channel which will be inherently worth it. Indirectly, the exercise provided a fairly comprehensive view on the competitive landscape of the broader industry as well as the various sub verticals.
