Business is tough and issues crop up quickly.

Whenever I feel unfocused or disoriented balancing issues during the search, I find it incredibly helpful to write to myself. It’s incredibly helpful in creating a strategy to navigate what you’re dealing with.

The process:

  1. Take some time to complain about the state of things. It gets the emotions out and helps to define the problem.
  2. Think about times where you were successful and consider why you were successful at that time.
  3. Think about wisdom from others you’ve already heard that can be applied here.
  4. Analyze the current problem by questioning yourself and answering as if you were trying to help a friend.
  5. Create achievable actions and prioritize them.
  6. Follow up on these items.
