Hello -
We have recently partnered with a very large India based sourcing company. ( Think Alibaba type - focused on India Manufacturing). As part of our arrangement, we are offering a free assessment to a few companies that want to explore sourcing goods from India and comparison to their existing product sourcing. ( Especially in Paper and Packaging products, Apparel, household and Industrial products).
If anyone is interested in getting this assessment or discuss this, I would love to set up a call next week and understand your requirements.

How is one supposed to Think Alibaba? D0 you mean in terms of similar scale or nature of operation like a similar marketplace platform like Alibaba?
From what you described as the core - paper packaging & then may be some apparels -my hunch is Bizongo but I may be wrong. So if its Bizongo, then its revenues for last year were 1711 Cr in INR ($213m USD or $0.213 B) : Alibaba on the other hand did $130 B+
Even if its not Bizongo - other similar platforms are on the same scale or lower - so please enlighten how###-###-#### B and 130B+ are on the same scale where we would like to "Think".
In fact if any of these "Think Alibaba" platform were ever represented on the same Balance sheet as Alibaba, they will be eliminated as a rounding off error!
There are not many people here on this forum who have better visibility of India in general, least about its supply chain and worse thing we can do is to create a false reference point.
There is no doubt India can be an interesting alternative to China for certain product categories but India has a long way to catch up. For anyone who has done any sourcing from India will tell you that sourcing from India is not a tech or an information problem, it is a people problem. Most Indian suppliers won't deliver goods on time until and unless there is a strong on-ground team chasing them everyday.
