Hi all,

If anyone here has experience with small brick and mortar gaming or gambling businesses and would be willing to have a call to discuss please let me know. I am mostly searching in completely unrelated sectors but I am hoping to satisfy some personal curiosity on this. Thanks.

Best,

Jon

Interesting question I don’t see this sector talked about much but have a few things to add.

My father owned a few retail gaming establishments in South Dakota with 12 units per location (think slot machines). Nice cash flow business for years, regulatory changes (smoking ban) and a huge Native American casino opened up so he got out as he saw the writing on the wall. State specific rules and requirements.

Bingo halls are huge in Texas. I heard of a dude who was acquiring these a few years back but haven’t heard much since then. lots of underreported earnings (cash biz) and I heard really low purchase prices bc of that....

Also poker/card houses in Texas, charge rent for a seat instead of rake. Big regulatory risk here but derisked as of late, but cash cows at cheap retail locations. Here’s a great story about the industry (I’ve been playing at this guys card rooms for years in Austin) https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newyorker.com/sports/sporting-scene/the-perils-of-semi-legal-poker/amp

Happy to chat. This is a fun space but not for the weak, weary, or timid ha....
