Hi SF Community -

Grateful to have a solid group of people to get insight from. I'm currently raising a traditional search fund focused on healthcare / businesses with significant healthcare end-market exposure.

I have some tactical questions related to fundraising. Would love to chat with anyone who raised a traditional search in the last year.

Thank you!

Brief about me: Recently left healthcare investment banking at Citi. Prior to Citi I was a management consultant in the Healthcare group at A&M. Earlier in my career I worked for two search funds, both of which closed acquisitions - and I joined one of the acquired businesses (a healthcare software business). MBA from Columbia.

More or less in the same space, we raised 2 times, but instead of buying other companies we decided to plant new ones, as the costs of taking over are way higher then starting new cells. Takes some more time. Healthcare can be very challenging as there is dependency from the payer. The other side is, if you are in a niche, its a blue ocean. But I am from Europe, there are sounds to have laws overhere to stop private equity to get hold on healthcare. Pros and cons on that too. Happy to share some thoughts if you want.
