I'm a technologist. I just started my search journey last month.

Given my background, I was searching for B2B SaaS. Through conversations with this community, I was introduced to the idea of searching for a company needing a tech upgrade.

Has anyone else looked for search targets with this lens? Have you found success with this strategy?

I'd love to chat!

Mike- I'd be glad to discuss this strategy. I've worked with a couple of sellers that had this approach. I also pursued a similar strategy during my entrepreneurial days. Can certainly be done, but you need to be extra careful about your chosen industry. Some, no matter how transformed, will not attract the attention of strategic buyers.

Also, software companies (and software valuations) are very different from software-enabled businesses. Be very sure to understand the difference from a potential buyer's perspective.

Yep, and I aid people with this by offering Salesforce and Digital Operations consulting -> Love working with Searchers and PE firms.

It's also a focus of mine to find businesses to acquire myself, and I have many people come through the door looking for similar leads.
