I've seen a lot of searchers who have created nice websites explaining their stories, investment theses/criteria, target industries and geographies, and professional credentials. Are such websites actually useful in attracting sellers, brokers, and investors? Maybe I'm missing something but I'm a bit skeptical. I'd appreciate any opinions supporting either side.

Agree a website helps to professionalize you, versus a hotmail account. However, these shell websites with the "I want to buy 1 business..." and list our your investment criteria and the typical searcher information, I think that can be a turnoff to business owners (or brokers - sorry, it's true).

I'd recommend leaning towards more of a personal brand site (even if you're a duo or group), or a small business website. Who are you (about), accomplishments, etc.

We get so many searchers contacting us, that we usually would not directly rely on their website to validate their ability to do a deal. A one-pager that outlines the same thing and that I can click directly from an email that you probably have sent me would suffice - with a succinct and targeted message included.
