Hello Team,

Curious to see searcher website examples (past or present) I could check out as I consider building my own. Anyone that knows a site worth referencing just drop in the comments or DM me. Please and thank you.

Have acquired a company a year and a half ago, I can see a ton of benefits to being a GM first. Since you are young, losing a couple of years wouldn't hurt you that bad and could serious derisk the process later, even if its in a totally different industry you would learn a lot of street smarts. You would learn how to hire, how to lead, and add some depth in at least one relevant industry. If you work as a GM for a retiring age owner, you might even be able to purchase the company where you work.

One possible issue might be how to find someone to hire you. Many companies looking for GMs want strong track records of experience in their specific industry. In my company, for example, your profile would not be considered for a GM role since it requires deep industry chops. I'm sure that there would be other organizations, especially larger ones with larger teams, where same industry expertise might be less of an necessity.

I went through this exercise myself in January. I made a list from the thread mentioned above and described my thoughts here as well as the process I used to make mine in these two posts:
