When you ask for more information on a potential acquisition from a broker (or owner) and then quickly pass once you receive that information, you may get some off-putting responses from the broker or seller. They may feel you wasted their time. You didn't do anything wrong. It's all part of the process. Just be polite and move on to the next one.

I think the best thing you can provide a broker is some basic feedback. What about the business made you pass? At minimum, let the broker know you are not interested. I'd much rather hear a "no" and a quick why than nothing. It helps me identify better buyers and possible weaknesses in the business to address. And builds credibility in you as a serious buyer that you value the broker's time. If you ghost me, good luck the next time you inquire on a business.

And where is the problem here? Does a broker really think everybody who contacts him/her that they want to acquire it? If the broker is not prepared to get a no than he/she should change their job. A no is just part of the job.
