Regarding PPMs and business plans, how specific is your investment thesis?

I am very fortunate to have deep industry knowledge (12+ years direct, 75+ years family tribal knowledge) of a specific sector and am drilling into market dynamics and other factors down to small idiosyncratic sub-segments that are driven by shifting macro-economic factors, industry-specific factors, and investment criteria. I'm curious how far to go? What do others with investment thesis in specific niche industries do? How deep are you going? The more detail the better...or keep it general in case markets shift and we need to pivot our approach?
