Hi Everyone -

It would be great to hear any recommendations or feedback on experiences working with buy-side advisors who you've retained to source deal flow. My focus is on the tri-state area with a particular focus on the northern half of NJ. I've looked at some outstanding businesses through sell-side brokers that were just a bit too far from home for my first deal, so am looking for an accelerant for my geographically strict search.

Thanks very much!

Mark

^redacted‌ - Besides Northern NJ, any other criteria? I have worked with a few buyside people in the past. Best to find ones that already have experience and contacts in the verticals you are looking at. They typically require some type of monthly fee to cover time and expenses with their marketing. It worked better for me when they already had a foothold in the verticals, which in my case was staffing, when I retained them.

I don't know any in your area but with the Internet, Zoom, etc. I don't think it matters where your advisor is as much as years ago (just look at this website as proof of this). Be able to define exactly what you want from an advisor and realize relationship and trust are the most important things followed by the advisors experience.
