How important is it to live where you search?

Asking all successful searchers here:

1. Would you say it is crucial during the Search-Phase to live in your focus search area? (The question is not whether you need to know the market where you buy)
2. Did you end up buying a company close to your living location during the search?

Background: I currently live in Berlin and will be focusing my search on Bavaria (where I'm from and my network is strongest), Austria, Switzerland, Baden-Württemberg, Tirol. I am considering to move to Munich to be "closer to the targets".

Looking forward for some controversial arguments.

German owners are surprisingly digital, so that the first couple of meetings can easily be held via video calls. But having an address with the same zip code and also being able to meet at the company any‘s HQ for a spontaneous meeting has some nice (mostly psychological) side effects which might break the ice faster. Good luck!

I am living where I search. I think it helps with networking but honestly hasn't been too big a deal so far. Most of my friends who have purchased or are close to purchasing have done so pretty far away from their living quarters. So I would say not as important as you would think?
