Hi all - I'm a current owner / operator of a 6 year old business. My co-founder and I have been in the process of fully delegating our responsibilities and step away from the day to day. At this stage, our primary outstanding responsibility is related to sales and growth, so we're looking for a sales orientated hire to manage our inbound deal funnel (our primary source of revenue) and lead some new outbound growth initiatives. We're looking for someone who can be mostly autonomous.

Any guidance on what to look for when hiring for this role? Tips around compensation (base compensation vs. commission), seniority level to search for, where to search, and anything else would be greatly appreciated!

I'd love to chat and see if I can help or point you in the right direction. I've lead sales team and helped consulting clients build a sales engine from scratch. I wrote a blog post with some. pointers here: https://patrickdichter.com/how-to-hire-a-profitable-salesperson/

This is a great question for the crowd. Is there any more info you can give? I'm wondering - What is the industry/product, the sales volume, and the expected growth? What amount of experience do you think they need based on your feel for the role?
