ETA post-acquisition strategies

I am considering a research topic for my MBA dissertation and would be interested to hear first-hand experiences concerning strategy generation and deployment. I would like to hear from anyone in the community who can advise, but particularly from those in the UK that have executed in the last 5-10 years.
