Prior to M&A Advisory, I was dealt a huge blow as a searcher.

I paid an attorney $25k fee to basically write a few documents and kill my deal by arguing with the seller's attorney on every call.

Attorney got paid, I lost the business...

Don't let your attorney steal the show.

Sorry to hear. Good warning to others. Unfortunately, many lawyers are so risk averse, that that try to take all the risk out of the deal (which means not doing it often). I hope you find the right type of M&A and corporate attorney that understands how to mitigate risk without blowing a deal up. Acquisitions are supposed to end in a win-win for both parties (as well as all the service providers). Feel free to reach out if you need help finding a good deal attorney - I know plenty.

Its a good thing to be aware of and its not just lawyers, with M&A specialty 3rd parties there is an enormous amount of over charging that occurs. I can typically save my clients 60-100k in costs just by better understanding going rates, better scope of services and looking at multiple vendors.
