Specifically can anyone tell me if said certifications travel with Entities or with people? Specifically if you acquire a business with DBE/MBE certifications - are those certifications transferred to the acquiring parties if the qualify or does the new parent co [or the new owners] have to go through the process of certification all over again?

Thank you all so much!

Ajay and Ben are correct. As a starting point, I'd strongly recommend you take a look at the SBA's website to familiarize yourself with federal small business certifications and their requirements: https://www.sba.gov/federal-contracting/contracting-assistance-programs

In my experience as the owner of a government contracting business, State certifications also tend to follow the SBA's criteria. Good luck!

set aside certifications are based on the individual - not the entity. Besides social-economic disadvantage - the Owner usually has to maintain ownership and control of the operations. I hope this answer your questions.
