Consulting While Searching

I'm a full-time self-funded searcher. Have been thinking it would make sense to do some consulting work while searching in order to generate a small income while continuing my search. I come from an M&A and PE investing background. I've heard of searchers finding consulting opportunities, but admittedly I'm not sure where to look. Has anyone on here done the same? If so, where did you find the consulting work and what were you doing? Any recommendations or anyone in need of a consulting resource would be appreciated.

If you're open to more income generating than synergy generating with search/ETA, you could also look at the startup/VC-backed at partial CFO/FP&A/Strategic Finance work. Have been consulting for a seed-stage VC-backed startup that raised $6m where the CEO needed someone to give him leverage

To Yvette's point, it's all about "how". Searching is a full-time job and if you're on a budget then you're going to want to be as efficient as possible going through it. There is also a lot of financial risk in the diligence process...do you have ~$250,000 on hand for diligence and legal fees? I've talked to others in your situation, and most end up raising a traditional search fund after 6-9 months of self-funding and realizing it takes more time and money than expected...
