Commercial Water Treatment Trends

I'm looking at a company that sells chemicals and associated services to steam powered industrial facilities.  These customers partner with the company to maintain chemistry specs in their steam plants.  Can anyone recommend resources to better understand trends in steamed powered industrial facilities?  I'm trying to understand if this customer base is expanding or contracting.

^Searchfunder member‌: you might try researching the EPA's Title V database to understand where operating permits have been issued under the Clean Air Act: https://www.epa.gov/title-v-operating-permits. EPA delegated the reporting to the states, so you will find the detailed information at state level (e.g. https://www.mass.gov/lists/massachusetts-operating-permit-facilities).
