Buy-side Advisors - Pros and Cons?

I'm wondering whether any searchers have worked with a buy-side advisor, what the experience was like, and whether you'd recommend it.

We're beginning a geo-based search in and around the Seattle metro area and my thought is that having a local advisor who's deep in the market could add a great deal of value. The question however is, is the incremental value worth the success fee?

I'd appreciate any insight from Searchers as well any advisors who are open to a brief introductory call - thanks!

I"m a buyside advisor and more than willing to have a chat about how I see the pros and cons. Feel free to schedule time with me here: www.calendly.com/elliottholland

Learn the best practices before you begin searching, and definitely before you outsourced to anybody for anything. If you don't know what should be done the right way how could you evaluate anybody who pitches you?
