We are currently playing in an environment where the winner takes it all. This is not some PC post to tell you everything is win-win. Unfortunately or fortunately COVID-19 had led to big corporations getting bigger and small companies get smaller or merging with the big ones and ceasing to exist. It's time to get big companies get bigger and we will notice a lot of this in the next couple of years.

It's temping to think big companies win simply because they are big. I've worked in many big companies, and can tell you they are very vulnerable on a per-opportunity basis, and each of these opportunities is a place where a smaller player can succeed. Big companies have have blind spots and biases to all kinds of happenings in the market, they have a lot of good and bad ideas competing for resources and attention, they have trouble coordinating the activities their many divisions which sometimes compete or conflict with each other, they suffer from political infighting, they have managers with biases and personal agendas, have trouble incentivizing and motivating employees, and are exposed to 'compliance' and publicity hurdles that are higher than for small companies. And in some industries, the customers and suppliers are actively trying to reduce the market power of the larger players.

Our challenge is to find these opportunities and win.
