Any successful searchers who were also working full time?

I am running a search while working full time, and, not surprisingly, it has created some time management issues. It feels like every time I come across something interesting, a pressing work deadline pops up and takes all my time and energy.

Has anyone had a successful search while working full-time, or should I fully commit and search full-time? Any tips?

Alexander, Christofer- I have been trying to launch a search while working full time, but I have not even been even able to put together a plan after several months that I made the decision to start a search fund. I am convinced that if you wan to start and run a successful search you need to drop anything you are doing and commit to it full time.

Unfortunately if quitting your job is not an option, I think that the key for success is to work hard upfront to find investors willing to help funding the search.

The question that I have is: are investors willing to provide the funding for a search to someone that is not fully committed to it?

I’ve been searching PT for a year and it has been tough, and much slower than it needs to be. My search has been focused and more passive (reviewing deals from a small set of brokers), but I do think it will require me to dedicate more time. If it’s an option, I’d start PT to save money and get your system and people in place, but a FT move may be inevitable if you want to close something.
