I'm curious if any searchers have experience investing in accounting practices. I have a Masters's in Accounting and am a CPA but my work experience has primarily been in private equity and SMB leadership. It seems like there is an opportunity to grow through acquisition and scale accounting practices by providing additional tax planning and value add services rather than primarily compliance services. Does anyone have experience here?

Looking at the original post from 2021, I can say that Live Oak Bank has been actively helping searchers acquire in the space. Licensing has been mentioned that with some situations, a CPA designation is required. However, in the last few years, the consulting, fractional CFO and bookkeeping niches have blossomed which don't necessarily require certifications. Happy to connect you with our Professional Practice team. redacted

Thanks, Lisa. I appreciate all of the help you and Heather provide the community on various podcasts and forums. I completed my first search with SBA financing that I paid off with KeyBank. I had another deal with Marie Askew under LOI that didn't end up going through but she was very helpful. I'll keep in touch.
