Yes. We ask that you use this option sparingly. Trust us, almost anything you'd post anonymously is a question that others have thought about and asked or wanted to ask. So, we encourage you to post under your own name. The added benefit of posting under your own name is that potential responders can direct message you back. However, if you'd like to post anonymously, you do have the option.
TIP 1: PROVIDE BACKGROUND
We've found that anonymous posts tend to get fewer responses. One hypothesis is that there's an issue of trust: who is this person? asking a question out of the blue? and why should I bother to help them when I don't know anything about them? Our second theory is that because this community is based on giving and sharing, it can feel like an anonymous poster is just seeking to take without giving. So, we recommending trying to humanize your post by giving a few details on your situation and what you're trying to accomplish. For example, "I am a prospective searcher who is about 1 year from leaving my day job to do a full time search. I've read the Stanford Primer and have this question....."
TIP 2: DON"T ASK FOR MONEY
