You hit day 1 of close. Now what?
If you're coming from a corporate environment, you had information flowing to you. Reports, P&L, all the data for decisions.
If you're like me, your first instinct is to try replicating that. Owners dive into the systems like fixing QuickBooks, trying to understand reports, and cleaning up paper trails.
Instead, your focus should be on the culture of the company. You should be able to spend time with the employees and customers and get to know the business processes.
Any time that you spend working on reports is a detraction from you being able to grow your business.
If I'd done this, I could have noticed a critical employee departure in my first week that worked on some of our most profitable job types.
I prevent owners from falling into the same trap by making their systems talk to each other. I help them see profitability by employee, inventory gaps, the time it takes to fix your most common problems.
Here's an example of something I've worked on for one of my customers. Let's chat. Tell me what you're building and we can set your acquisition up for success while you focus on learning your company's culture.
