WILLINGNESS OF US INVESTORS/LENDERS TO FUND OVERSEAS DEALS

The US obviously has the most developed search fund industry. There's many investors and lenders familiar with the search fund model and even specialising in funding search funds which would certainly seem to give US searches an advantage.

Are there US based investors/lenders that are willing to look at foreign deals (Australia in my case)? If so can anyone who has had experience share some common issues when investing/lending internationally?
