I am working on an eCommerce wine deal! It is a distressed transaction with tons of opportunity for upside. Looking to connect with any entrepreneurs with wine experience. Email me! redacted

As I was tagged, I'd say that wine is a fun industry. My main experience with wine was from inside as tasting, buying, selling, suggesting, presenting, and pricing. So I know distributors in my area and used to know some makers. Now I'm mostly business only, and drink from the collection.
But I think it has been covered fairly well above, with the understanding that all of the above are easy enough to overcome with relationships and a decent cost accountant. After that, more relationships and easy marketing strategies.

The US market is tough, regulations on shipping alcohol across state lines in particular but also the weight of the product versus the price. Inventory costs are high (unless you drop ship from the winery or wholesaler warehouse), shipping costs are high (it's a heavy product). If you can get past all that then it's a direct marketing game with CAC, LCV and such statistics being key. I looked at doing this sort of venture myself and just couldn't see how to make it work. Haven't even got to the competition...
