Dear community,

I am new to searchfunds and the broader topic as such. Based on the research I have done so far there seem to be numerous great SMEs out there that need a new owner & leader. People say also that there is tons of money in the market. Here I get the impression that also many fabuous people are open to the idea of taking over a SME.

So I wonder: Where is the bottleneck?

Hi Ali, I would argue that the bottleneck is in the amount of great SMEs out there compared to the amount of amazing entrepreneurs that want to put in the work to take over the reigns of a business. There are still much more great companies than searchers. Yet, information about these companies is opaque, searchers have to go out and look for them, that's part of the value searchers create for their investors.

I would say there are 2 issues: 1 most businesses aren't as great as their owners think they are and 2 many fabulous people have limited resources with which to acquire said business. which makes everything harder.
