Curious, when investing in a startup or mature business, how many of you are involved in the creative touchpoints of a company, i.e. establishing a great brand foundation (identity design, guidelines, etc.), website design or redesign, website development, social and/or digital marketing strategies? Are you more likely to invest in a business that has great branding and an awesome website, or are you more interested in the product or services being offered and how well they do it?
I run a design agency called Partywave (https://www.partywave.design/), and we've partnered with several VC / PE firms and investors to help strengthen select companies that need identity or design help. Very interested to hear from investors on their approach to brand building.
