Do you think it's necessary to have a background in private equity / banking to start a SearchFund? What do you think are the main skills necessary to start a SearchFund?

The two most important things are the desire to take an entrepreneurial track, the desire to run a company, and be ambitious. Also, you need attention to detail, perseverance, networking, leadership, flexibility, etc.

It helps if one of the partners has a financial background because understanding the numbers is key for the company valuation and key to make it efficient and grow it. Nevertheless, the other partner needs to complement those skills by having a background in sales, law, operations, etc. Take a look at the Search Fund Primer from Stanford.

Francisco, you might have a technical expertise on a determined background that will help you to assess an opportunity or risk on that particular matter for the business; however for a search fund journey you must have an integral vision of an industry, business model, financial skills, what is driving the fundamentals and most importantly how you can create value.
