What value have you gotten out of QofE?

Hi All - Two part question. One: for those that have done a QofE, what value have you gotten out of it (for reference, I did a QofE once, and it was at best confirmatory, at worst got things wrong). I'm financially literate, but definitely will do one if it has real value and can help me avoid a mistake. Second, assuming these are worthwhile (a) how much should it cost and (b) does anyone have any recommendations for firms that have experience with small services businesses in the NYC metro area

Hi Seth! A QoE for most ETA deals will cost anywhere from $10K to $40K depending on who is doing the deal. Scope of work, and deal complexity. We usually charge $15K - $20K We have done over 500 deals and deliver reports in just 2 weeks. Check out our google reviews to understand the value my clients have received when working with me. We are 100% USA based, and you get 2 CPAs reviewing every deal. The number 1 thing you get with us is confidence to buy the company or a good understanding of why you need to walk away; However, our reports also help with renegotiating price. Private Equity loves our 2 week turnaround time because it allows you to avoid spending 30K on legal fees, if the deal will die. Email me at redacted Or set up a call here calendly.com/qoeprep

When I work with a client on a QoE, I find the most value I provide to clients is conversations we have around findings from the QoE report. I think in this space the best providers are really advisors that are going to assist you in pressure testing your assumptions based on the findings in the report. The other part I'd chime in as important with a QoE is to ensure the provider will review the sale and purchase agreement. I've seen errors in the agreements that could've cost my clients millions over the years. I'm a NY CPA and have done a small service business deal out of NJ. Send me a message if you're interested in talking more.
