I'm trying to find data with industry growth rates, concentration, and ebitda or profit margins. But I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. What did you use to hone your industry aim?

For fragmentation, you can gather some good information from the Census Bureau's American FactFinder... the metric they report on is called concentration ratio. Here is a resource to navigate: https://libguides.stthomas.edu/c.php?g=88919&p=571233. You can search by NAICS and Geographies.

For growth rate, you can look at IBIS World and other industry reports. Typically, the preview they provide online (before you buy) will have the total market size and the historical 5 year CAGR.

Financials are bit more difficult. I typically search for trade publications that focus on the economics of the trade. They typically publish yearly surveys and data on the economics of owning a business.

Another good resource is: https://valuationresources.com/
