What is everyone's plan on growing the business they acquire. Coming from real estate and owning an ecommerce business, I plan on using direct targeted marketing offline and online. Talking to a lot of sellers, most of them don't have an aggressive customer acquisition strategy online or offline. I am curious to hear others thoughts on growth after closing.

I completely agree on the importance of customer acquisition strategies. I enjoy helping acquirers build a financial model for customer acquisition costs (CAC) and implementing it through digital marketing.

In addition to acquisition, focusing on retention is essential. A well-rounded retention strategy can include: - Personalized content and offers for customer segments. - Proactive customer support to address issues promptly. - Loyalty programs to incentivize repeat business.

By combining tailored acquisition and retention strategies, acquirers can unlock growth potential in their newly acquired businesses. I'm always interested in learning from others' experiences in these areas.

Probably more "tactical" than "strategic", but I think it's basically about figuring out where your prospective targets hang out, and then coming up with a behavior plan that puts you there... whether that's on the phone... at conferences.... email... social/business networks... etc. it's going to be a bit different for every business, but I think benchmarking the ratios of Sales & Marketing as % of rev and then allocating budget to support the above is a good place to start.
