What is the typical budget range for Total Legal Costs?

I'm starting a traditional search fund, and I have been getting quotes from lawyers in the range of $175k-$325k. Does this seem high?

Those fees seem a little high to me. I am in another country, but Australia is not a cheap place to work/live. The flip side is that it all depends on the business. The bigger it is, the more complexity that exists, the more work there is to be done. Have the lawyers provide you with a typical breakdown of costs, and outline exactly what you need.

Seems high. I recently completed a self funded search where I acquired 2 businesses and some real estate in a fairly complex structure, and my legal fees were a lot less than that. When you get quotes, I would suggest asking for price ranges for each phase of the process. This detail will help you compare offers and ensure you're getting the right scope from each offeror.
