Hey Everyone, I’m new here and starting my ETA journey. I’m not sure where to begin in choosing the type of business to pursue or how to approach the purchase process. For those who have gone through it: What first steps helped you narrow down the right business? How did you learn the process of buying a company? Any guidance or resources would help. Best,

Hi Usman congrats! I wish I had this when I started a simple tool to help me define my superpowers and my deal box so I can clear share with others that can help me on my journey. Your feedback could be helpful on how I can improve the tool to help other ETAs. https://www.acquiretobuild.com/am-i-ready

Base your search on four factors: 1. background and experience (which industries have you spent time in, which will decrease the learning curve); 2. interest (what products or services or customers get you excited, whether SaaS, ecom, brick and mortar, etc); 3. finances (consider your capital, ability to raise, and bank relationships); 4. Network (who do you know, including family, friends, classmates, etc). Then get out there are start looking!
