What do you think about Will Thorndike’s shift in focus to long-term holds?

Recently, I taught an undergrad class entitled "Intro to Business, Finance & Life," where I had several guest speakers, notably one of my best friends and the search fund legend Will Thorndike, who talked about his life, career, founding of Housatonic Partners, and the power of long-term compounding in investments and in life.
IMO, Thorndike's message is very timely in a world where our attention spans and investment horizons have shrunk, and both in life and in investments, compounding over long periods is key.
We also talked about when we first met, and he was working out of a closet. He had just made the first investment in Road Rescue (which would go on to become Assurion, the greatest search investment of all time), and I told him, "That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard of."
