Biz boards and brokers are easiest, but everyone on the same boards and most brokers are lacking. Proprietary searches are a lot more work but less crowded. Start by narrowing your industry focus and find the NAICS/SIC codes of interested industries. Then do a search for companies in the chosen industries via Google, industry trade associations, recent trade shows, etc. Then look them up on LinkedIn or Zoom info and see if can identify owner. Can also narrow your geo then go to the Secretary of State for the chosen geo(s) and search business records of companies where they show the agent of the business. Then start a direct outreach by e-mail, snail mail or even cold calls. May consider hiring a VA for $5/hr to help with this part. AI can help you write a short letter. Good luck!

I would start connecting with brokers and building relationships. Also depends what you are looking for...
