The Position
The company is seeking an entrepreneurial leader and senior executive responsible for owning and driving the company’s revenue-generating functions: Sales & Marketing. While founded in the 2010s, the company is looking for the VP of Sales & Marketing to evaluate its GTM strategy and establish be-in-class processes. The primary focus is to drive revenue growth, improve profitability, and enhance overall financial performance.
The role can be remote within New England, but a preference is for Boston. Some travel may be required.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Report to: CEO
Direct Reports: 4-5 direct reports (Sales Lead, Marketing Lead, 2 Account managers)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Revenue Strategy & Reporting: Work with the CEO and leadership team to flesh out a comprehensive GTM plan. Develop and implement a comprehensive revenue strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. Provide regular reports and updates on revenue performance
Sales & Marketing Leadership: Lead the sales and marketing teams, ensuring collaboration and alignment between these functions to optimize revenue generation.
Revenue Generation: Drive revenue growth through sales, marketing, partnerships, and other channels, and set clear revenue targets and goals.
Customer Acquisition and Retention: Develop and execute strategies for acquiring new customers while retaining and expanding relationships with existing ones.
Sales Process Optimization: Streamline the sales process, set performance targets, and implement consistently used sales tools to enhance efficiency.
Pricing and Monetization: Develop and refine pricing models and monetization strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
Data Analysis and Insights: Utilize data analytics to gain insights into customer behavior, market trends, and sales performance, allowing data-driven decision-making.
Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging market opportunities to capitalize on revenue potential.
Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop revenue forecasts, budgets, and financial models to track progress and ensure the company’s financial health.
Partnerships and Alliances: Identify and foster strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations to expand revenue streams.
Customer Experience: Ensure an excellent customer experience and work to improve customer satisfaction (in partnership with Customer Success lead) to increase revenue.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record hitting targets. This person will need to helicopter from presenting in a board meeting to getting into the weeds with the team. No responsibility will be too junior for this leader.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
8+ years of proven experience leading, project managing and building teams in a relevant business industry
Enterprise SaaS Sales: Experience having carried a quota or lead a team with sales targets
Executive Experience: Previous experience in executive leadership roles, particularly in sales and marketing. Experience in B2B SaaS sales in both high-velocity sales environments and complex / enterprise deals.
Results Driven: A commitment to achieving revenue targets and improving profitability. Bring discipline, focus and accountability around top performance indicators.
Strategic Vision: A strong ability to develop and execute revenue strategies in line with the company’s mission and objectives. Consultant experience is a plus, but not required.
Analytical Skills: High proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling to make data driven decisions.
Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and management skills to inspire, motivate and align sales and marketing teams toward revenue goals.
Innovative Thinker: Ability to identify and leverage emerging opportunities and technologies to drive revenue growth, and partner internally with Product and Engineering.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the organization’s industry, market dynamics, and customer needs.
Negotiation and Relationship Building: Significant prior experience in negotiating contracts and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships and customer relationships.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to articulate the revenue strategy, goals and progress.
