I know that it is common to for summer interns to work for searchfunders for the experience but has anyone volunteered or worked part time as a working professional? Seems like a good way to prepare prior to getting an MBA or launching a fund of their own. Thoughts?

As an MBA, I don't think you really need to volunteer your time. I think there are plenty of paid opportunities that can also serve as vetting mechanisms to understand if search is right for you. Many MBA programs will also subsidize you if the employer can't cover the cost.

I highly recommend getting into the weeds of searching as it is definitely more difficult than it appears.

I volunteered during my MBA, but I do think its a great idea to invest a month also as working professional if you want to know this is really for you (either a month ull-time or longer period part-time). Big decision to follow-down that path and hands-on experience can make a big difference.
