I'm at the beginning stages of my searcher journey and in the process of forming my thesis. This last year has been volatile for the semiconductor industry. I was curious to see if anyone had a perspective on how current trends (supply shortages, geo-political climate, de-risking supply chains, Biden's infrastructure bill, etc.) will impact existing US semiconductor manufacturers.

DoD has a focus on this: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-defense-semiconductors/u-s-defense-department-looks-to-bolster-domestic-chip-manufacture-with-new-program-idUSKBN28S07S

If you dig, there are several reports (even predating current auto shortage) around on the subject from DoD agencies, all stating US decline in this industry and the challenges this means for DoD.
