Anyone have experience valuing celebrity or regular fragrance brands?
A friend asked me to support the creation of a fragrance line for an individual who is well known in the music scene. We have an investor who signed a blank check for whatever is needed, are working with the best fragrance designers in the world, and have distribution already setup through major retailers.
Within the first 6 months, we're conservatively projecting between###-###-#### units per month in sales (which is consistent with this individuals other product launches at similar price points).
I'd like to provide our investor a pre-money valuation based on sales projection (which they are fine with), however, I'm not sure which industry multiples are most relevant for a venture of this size.
The big brands with $10-100M in revenue seem to command 12.5x+ EBITDA, but this is still very much in startup mode. This seems unrealistic to me as at###-###-#### units per month we'll be looking at revenues in the $540-950k range with EBITDA in the $450-750k range.
Anyone have insight on what a more realistic multiple of revenue or EBITDA should be in this space and for an entity of this size?
