Used Commercial Truck Dealership, anyone?

I'm exploring a deal in the space. The dealership specializes in used commercial trucks, such as box trucks, utility service trucks, flatbed trucks, and others. My partner has good experience in car dealerships and auctions, but cars are definitely different from used trucks.

The main challenge I see is that it's two businesses in one, meaning buying right is as important as selling right. In other words, good sales depend on good inventory sourcing, which needs to happen monthly.

Other challenges are the high inventory, the need for a lot of land, and the cash-intensive nature of the operation.

However, the market does not seem as saturated as cars, and operations seem to be national, as individuals are willing to go across states for the right truck at the right price (cars, too, but not as often).

Another concern is electric trucks and their effect on the used truck market or the trucking sector in general (including new).

Does anyone here with experience in the sector mind commenting?

The company I'm considering has been in the market for five years, has solid financials, and has sound systems in place. They offer a lot of customization and repairs to the trucks. It seems that's where the margin is created.

Used Trucks is a bit niche, but ^redacted‌ have commented on Dealerships in general and might be able to help you here.

If anyone else has questions about Dealerships, or related topics, please post them and I'll do my best to get them answered for you.
