Have any US investors done thorough capital gains tax research on search fund investments made internationally (particularly UK where there is a treaty in place)? We have heard from others that tax credits can be applied ok but want to validate this.

It seems likely that a search fund qualifies as a Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC), has this created any complications for any investors so far?

Been unable to track down an English version...but looks like a great read!
