What techniques/tools is everyone using to find revenue numbers?

In the UK most small companies aren't required to submit full accounts, so we don't get to see their revenue numbers on the various databases out there.

Hi Florian - this is a great question. We've grappled with this when building out information on UK companies over the last few years. A few things that I've learned: Firstly, that a significant volume of companies report revenue, when they don't need to. We see thousands of companies reporting revenue <£10m (the threshold). Secondly, that Debtors is a decent proxy for revenue. We calculated average Debtor/Revenue ratios across different sectors, then applied them to Balance Sheet data that is available for all companies. This then gives you a very good approximation for revenue that you can search for.

That said, I think the regulation is changing - soon all companies will have to reporting income statements, meaning much better availability of Revenue data.
