Transition from a fully self funded to partnered search model

Hi, one of my friends and I have been speaking about doing a search together. I would love to hear thoughts from anyone (or speak with if you are open to it) who has created a partnership this way and what all I need to consider / put into formal agreements.

If you are doing traditional, two key items we heard: 1) how long have you known each other? There is a lot of bumps in this journey, and there needs to be something more deep that help you stick together as a partnership and 2) Complimentary skills.
