The search is a stamina game.
Most searchers don't quit because of one bad deal. They quit somewhere in the middle, when nothing is bad enough to walk away from and nothing is good enough to chase.
That stretch is quiet. You've read hundreds of listings. A few brokers never called back. A seller you liked went with someone else. And your calendar looks the same as it did a few months ago.
Here's what the searchers who keep going tend to do:
They treat every pass as data. They write down why they said no, so the buy box gets sharper instead of just longer.
They track a number they control, like conversations started, instead of staring at deals closed.
They go back to the sellers who said "not now." Timing changes more often than people expect.
And they stay in touch with other searchers. Not for advice, just to remember that a slow stretch is normal.
The search is a stamina game dressed up as a deal game. The person still showing up with a clear buy box late in the process usually has a real edge over the one who was faster out of the gate.
