Hi there.

I wonder how SFs approach target market (niche) selection? Do you see systematic approach to market (niche) selection as smth that adds a lot of value or is it more important that a searcher first limits on those areas where he/she can add the most value?

Are there any data providers you recommend for a start to come up with a reliable general overview of markets / market niches / trends and be more systematic?

Thanks in advance.

Peter

Here are some thoughts. If you want to co-locate with your target and you're not prepared to move then adding a niche focus could paint you into a corner with very few targets. . That aside, I recommend you focus on how you personally can create the most value. What are you good at and what are you passionate about? What niche would benefit most from your network? In theory you could focus on the highest return niches, but if you are working with public (or Searchfnuder) data to determine that then it's not a secret and you will have competition
