I see too many searchers stuck in the "Broker CIM -> NDA -> Outbid" cycle. It’s exhausting. We’ve shifted to a "Sniper" approach using our own AI Origination tech and the quality of conversations has been night and day. However you can accomplish similar results with Apollo.io + AI + LinkedIn. I want to share the exact setup so you can run it yourself. No gatekeeping. Step 1: The Source (Apollo.io) Don't just search for "Owner" in "Manufacturing." That’s how you get ignored. Filter for Intent: Look for companies hiring for "Plant Manager" or "Controller" (sign of transition). Filter for Keywords: Search for terms like "succession," "exit," or "family business" in their company bio. The Goal: A list of 50 highly relevant targets, not 5,000 random ones. Step 2: The Brain (AI Personalization) Export your list to CSV. Then, use a tool like Claude or ChatGPT to write the message. Prompt: "Analyze this owner's LinkedIn bio and company description. Write a 1-sentence hook that connects their specific background (e.g., '20 years in HVAC') to my background in [Your Field]." Why: Generic templates get deleted. Hyper-specific hooks get read. Step 3: The Channel (LinkedIn) Email open rates are dying. Move the conversation to where they hang out. Send a connection request with that AI-generated hook. Don't pitch in the first message. Just connect on the shared ground. The Result: You stop being "another searcher" and start being a peer. We’re seeing response rates 3-4x higher than standard email blasts because it feels human. If you try this out, let me know how it goes. It takes a bit more setup upfront, but the deal flow is worth it.

Great post, James! Thank you. I built my own agent but was having a bit of a tough time with automating the entire process. I particularly like the angle of seeking transition - great idea.
