Hello, I'm James Souffrant, Managing Partner at SBC Legacy Partners. Before search, I spent 20 years across consulting in the energy space, brand marketing in CPG, and sales and operations in tech — so I've lived inside the functions I'm asking you to assist me with. I'm now focused on acquiring B2B commercial service businesses (janitorial, landscaping, facility maintenance, remediation) in the Sunbelt leveraging a variety of deal structures and I'm looking to bring on four people who want real, hands-on exposure to what a self funded search process looks like from the inside should you want to pursue it for yourself. I'll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis, so don't wait. The four roles: 1. List Builder — You know how to dig. County websites, secretary of state databases, LinkedIn, Hunter.io, whatever it takes. You can turn a target industry and geography into a clean list of verified business owner names and emails. Scrappiness is the core skill. A natural fit for someone eyeing investment banking or research-heavy roles. 2. Email Marketer — You've run outbound campaigns before. You understand open rates, deliverability, subject line testing, and how to iterate on what the data tells you. You'll take the lists and build a real outbound engine around them. A natural fit for someone targeting marketing or growth roles. 3. Cold Caller — You've picked up the phone in a professional context before and you know how humbling it can be. You're not scared of it. One objective: get meetings on the calendar. A natural fit for someone with a sales background or genuine interest in building that muscle. 4. Deal Analyst — You can read a CIM, stress-test an EBITDA figure, spot a recast that doesn't hold up, and think clearly about what a business is actually worth. You don't need to be a search expert yet, but you should be comfortable with financial statements and genuinely curious about business quality. A natural fit for someone with a finance background, though analytical sharpness matters more than pedigree. Who I'm looking for: MBA students, college seniors, or working professionals exploring search who want first-hand exposure to an active deal process. The common thread is that you've done real work before — you know what it means to own something, figure it out, and keep moving. I have genuine bandwidth to teach search and share what I'm learning in real time. The best version of this is a two-way exchange. To apply, reply here or DM me with: a.Which of the four roles you want b.Why — and what draws you to search specifically c.What you've done that's relevant — doesn't need to be in M&A, just show me the function No resume required. How efficiently and clearly you respond is itself a signal. A baseline understanding of self-funded search will make this significantly more valuable for both of us. Unpaid through end of August, with potential to extend into September. Remote. Applications close July 9th — rolling interviews begin immediately. If things go well, there's a real possibility of continued involvement as I build toward a platform.
